Series 1 E-Type Jaguar 3.8 Convertible – Project 1
Hi, my name is Kypros and I live in Nicosia. I am the proud owner of a classic 3.8 Jaguar convertible.
When I brought the car to Cyprus from England and had time to review it unfortunately a lot of faults and rust were found, making the car unreliable and dangerous. I took the car to various other places but the standards of work carried out, although adequate, were not at all what I wanted for my car – the car that I had waited half of my life to own! By pure chance, at that point, a friend recommended Steve for his engine rebuilding and tuning abilities.
I went down to the workshop in Larnaca to meet him and from what he showed me, on other engines in the workshop he has modified and improved, I was very impressed. First he asked me what kind of power I was looking to produce and from there he went on to explain step by step what was involved. I was so impressed by the work that I spent quite a lot of time in the workshop while the work was being carried out on my engine.
Having seen the level of craftsmanship going into the bodywork and painting, on other projects, I desperately wanted to persuade Steve to take on the bodywork/restoration of the whole car. Although Steve declined at first, he explained that he did not want to finish work that other people had already started. In hindsight I can see now that Steve was very right to decline at first as once the work had started on the restoration most, if not all, of the work had to be redone to meet his standards. As Steve says, everything that leaves his workshop, has to look and be better than when it originally left the factory.
My car is now at the stage where it basically needs to be painted (in the colour of my choice) and assembled. I am so happy to have met Steve and even more so for the sake of my E-Type Jaguar. I can honestly say that the work carried out on my car is of exceptional quality. This comes from someone who is a classic car enthusiast and has worked on cars as a hobby longer than he cares to remember. If you are thinking of having any kind of work carried out on your car, get Steves opinion first. I promise you will not regret it!
